The course aims at familiarizing students with the challenges and risk factors for epidemics, their impact on global public health security, as well as an overview of the global health diplomacy system. Students will broaden their understanding of the issues by discussing theoretical aspects, engaging in interactive exercises that incorporate the simulation of disease outbreak scenarios and by having an opportunity to question global health practitioners from all over the world via online technological means. The course will train students to analyse emergency, preparedness and response capacities to disease outbreaks, gain the essential knowledge of the existing international framework of cooperation in health, improve leadership skills and confidence to interact with key stakeholders and apply the global health security and governance theory to international fieldwork.
