The course aims to introduce students to the most important contemporary European political thinkers. The course will combine a thematic presentation of the basic trends and problems of political theory (e.g. democratic theory, liberalism, conservatism, critical theory) with a focus on their representative thinkers. The thinkers presented are selected not solely on their belonging to the contemporary world but also based on the topicality and relevance of their thinking. Students will know and understand in depth the most important contemporary European political theories explaining the political reality in general, and international politics in particular, will be able to interpret phenomena in the field of international relations and global politics; form and express personal views and account for the advanced processes in the said field using their acquired knowledge of political theory.
