International Relations in Asia-Pacific

This course aims at providing students with a working knowledge of the international relations of Asia and the Pacific, including the relevant theoretical background and determinants of the problem, including an introduction to the geography, demography, socio-cultural, economic and strategic situation of the region. The role of the PRC, Japan, Korean Peninsula, Southeast Asia and the United States, as well as regional organizations will be discussed (the content of the course is divided into lectures and readings for students). The typical graduate knows and understands the essential issues of international relations in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as their theoretical background and has a deepened knowledge of the regional system, its evolution and the main actors in the region. Moreover, graduates have knowledge of the political, social and economic processes determining international relations in the region and insight into IR participants and current events in the Asia-Pacific Region.
