The course aims at providing students with knowledge and skills of understanding foreign policy decision-making as it is in fact (including limited rationality, different cognitive biases and domestic politic interferences like the domination of powerful economic interest groups). As a result, it helps to avoid simplistic foreign policy interpretations associating decision-makers with abstract (and almost mechanical) rational actors. Graduates know and understand fundamental research problems associated with foreign policy analysis, have a working knowledge of foreign policy theories, are aware of the political, economic and social processes determining foreign policy, have the ability to analyse and prognose foreign policy and to find, critically analyse, and synthesize information.
