International Economics

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the analysis of economic policy-making, together with its objectives, theory and implementation. In particular, the course will examine the extent to which economic policy change is affected by ideas, interests, and institutions in the multi-level setting of the modern global economy. The theory will be drawn from general and international economics, international relations, public policy, political science and political economy literature. Several national economic systems will be examined in a comparative fashion, in addition to a variety of specific economic policy case studies. Discussions and debates will form an integral part of the class, supplementing the lectures.
