Thiem Hai Bui

Dr. Thiem Hai Bui is a senior lecturer at Faculty of Political Economy, UEB, VNU Hanoi. He is member of the Research Committee on Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology at the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED), Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and Deputy Director of the Institute for Legal Studies and Legal Aid in Hanoi. He has extensive working experience at the Vietnamese National Assembly, holding different positions as Director of Research Project Management, Member of the Research Council, and Deputy Director of General Affairs Department at the Institute for Legislative Studies and Standing Deputy Leader of the Task Force for drafting NA Standing Committee Resolution on research grant management.

He was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Sanford School of Public Policy, Duke University; a visiting researcher at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, University of Oslo, an Australian Leadership Award (ALA) Scholar, British Chevening Scholar, an Asia Foundation Development Fellow (AFDF), YSEALI Professional Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington DC. He has been teaching at Hanoi University, Hanoi Law University, Vietnam-Japan University (VNU), Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Academy of Journalism in Hanoi, and University of Queensland. His reseach has been published on various prestigious peer-reviewed journals and books. He holds a PhD in political science at the University of Queensland, Australia, an MA in International Studies from SOAS, University of London, and a BA in International Relations from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
