Welcome New Students!

On October 6th we had the pleasure to inaugurate the new academic year and welcome new amazing students to our academic family!

The audience was greeted by the representatives of Faculty of International and Political Studies Jagiellonian University: Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, prof. dr hab. Paweł Laidler  and the Director of the Center for International Studies and Development, dr hab. Marcin Grabowski.

The inaugural lecture was given by Professor Xin Zhang: Geopolitical Economy of the “New Cold War”. This talk located the upcoming “New Cold War” in the long circles of capitalist world system and fundamental ideological shifts. It argues that the capitalistic logic of the post-Cold War globalization creates internal tensions within the supposedly “liberal international order”. Reactions to such tensions lead the global system towards a possible “New Cold War”, in which leading national actors (US, China, Europe, Russia, Global South) have been advocating various spatial and geographic visions for re-arranging the global political economy. The talk outlines the emerging key features of the current global political economy in light of the New Cold War debate and explores the possibility of a global re-embedding of liberalism.
