Operation Diplomat II: Climate Action

Climate change, air pollution, overloading of the atmosphere and ocean waters with carbon are the global issues the world is facing now. We are going to discuss the environmental problems in Europe, diplomacy, active work and projects of world organizations.

However, it is important to know the steps on how we can help the world and what all of us can do to prevent drastic climate changes.

That is why SAIAD and AEGEE-Kraków decided to create an event addressing these issues and try to find the practical solutions during our lectures and workshop.

During the first day of the event, we will have a significant opportunity to listen to Adam Leckius and Marnix van Holland.
  • Adam Leckius is Climate Policy Officer at Climate Action Network Europe. He has worked on climate ambition and governance, with the EU 2030 climate target and the European Climate Law, as well as on stakeholder engagement with youth and mobilizers. You will be able to enhance your knowledge about climate action and environmental politics.
  • Marnix van Holland, a representative of WWF, had a career as a diplomat at the Netherlands Embassy in Malaysia, he joined international iNGO Hivos in 2014 and developed himself as an expert on Entrepreneurship Ecosystems and business support in the Global South. Besides management experience, he co-designed and fundraised for various on-the-ground initiatives including multi-country humanitarian work, large-scale advocacy campaigns and an impact investment fund. You will hear about the diplomatic experience, get to know about the WWF, and some environmental projects.
  • We believe that it is also principal to understand practical actions, so for the workshop, Eva Izquierdo, a representative of the European Environmental Bureau, will share the information about her current DEAR project Climate of Change. Also, we will know more about her experience in Greenpeace in Spain and Belgium, and her work as a communications officer for Euromontana. During the workshop, Eva will tell us about our actions and how students can help the environment and save the planet.
