Łukasz Stach has graduated in Political Science from the Pedagogical University of Krakow. He has prepared a PhD. dissertation in political science: Społeczeństwa państw - nowych członków Unii Europejskiej wobec integracji z jej strukturami. Obawy, nadzieje, oczekiwania [Concerns, hopes and expectations connected with European Union integration amongst the EU new member states societies] (Pedagogical Universiy of Krakow, 2008). He has conducted research in Singapore and Malaysia, as well as had lectures in Czech Republic, Netherlands, Portugal and Slovakia. He is an author or co-author of numerous publications, including  8 books (author, co-author or editor), 12 journal scholarly journal articles and over 30 book chapters.

Main academic/research interests:

• Southeast Asia security issues;
• State’s fragility in the Southeast Asia region
• Contemporary military conflicts;
• Japanese military (past and present)

Interests:

• World history (general)
• History of military conflicts (especially World War II)
• Japan at war in the Pacific
• Crusades

Hobbies: sport (cross-country skiing, cycling, basketball), hiking (especially mountains), scale modelling (mostly planes), reading books, amateur astronomy, travelling (near or far).
