Armando Aliu

Armando Aliu

Armando Aliu is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland). He also works as Postdoctoral Fellow in the framework of the research project entitled “Promoting Order at the Edge of Turbulance (POET)”, run by the Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Emilian Kavalski in the Center for International Studies and Development (CISAD) and co-financed by the Polish Academic Exchange Council and the Polish National Science Council. Likewise, he is contributing to the “TRIZUB Project: Trajectories, Encounter Networks and Actions from Ukraine to Bologna” –financed by funds from project “ALMA IDEA 2022: Linea A finanziata a valere sulle risorse del D.M. 737/2021”, CUP J45F21002000001 – as external researcher representing the Jagiellonian University. He is currently working on “Nicaulaus Copernicus Initiative” to attract EU funding and grants from the European Commission. 

Dr. Aliu holds an M.A. degree in European Studies from the University of Hamburg and a Ph.D. degree in International Commerce and the EU Law from Istanbul Commerce University. In past years, he was affiliated with the University of Heidelberg, the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, and the United Nations International Organization for Migration (UN-IOM). He is the SEDIA Funding & Tender Expert and Senior ECAS EU Project Referee at the European Commission and Director of the European Research Academy. He has memberships of the Law Society, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Max Planck Alumni Association (MPAA), International Migration Research Network (IMISCOE), the Law Society of England and Wales, Western Balkans Migration Network (WB-MIGNET), the Academy of European Law (Europäische Rechtsakademie), University of Cambridge, Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement, the International Political Science Association (IPSA), Polish Political Science Association (PPSA), the International Studies Association (ISA), the German Economic Association (Verein für Socialpolitik), the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), the American Political Science Association (APSA), the Society for Political Methodology (Washington University in St.Louis), the Heidelberg Alumni International (HAI), the Oxford Alumni Group Network (Oxford Alumni), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Solve Community (MIT-Solve). He is Article Editor and Peer of Artificial Intelligence Review (Springer) and Sage Open. He received research fellowships and awards from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the University of Oxford, Department of International Development, Istanbul Commerce University, and the Triple Helix Association.
